Sermon Notes For Sunday Morning 2/27/2011

The Quest for Self-validation

1.       Open with scripture: Col. 2:10

2.       The Bible the greatest authority on human behavior. God has 6000 years’ experience in human relations. Some good, a whole lot bad.

3.       You cannot be the good father, husband etc. you need to be, until you become the man (or woman) that God wants us to be.  Without the Holy Spirit we are at a severe disadvantage. We are creating a deficit for ourselves that we will never be able to overcome. And everyone that we come in contact will be affected by it. It is one matter to lack skills or advantages in the flesh, but when we have not solidified a relationship with Christ it will affect us throughout all of eternity. Hard work, much learning, and a long life will never substitute for faithful, righteous, and holy life. We are spending ourselves foolishly if we are trying to please man and ignoring the affections of a friendly God.

4.       There is a very good reason the writer used the word diligence.  Heb 11:6 But without faith [it is] impossible to please [him]: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

5.       We want other people to validate our life: Question? How can we expect other people to like us, love, accept us if we don’t like ourselves.  It’s  not just an issue of how look on the outside, but it’s the restless spirit within us that is seeking happiness, acceptance and the validation of others.

6.       Even if people do accept us and like us just the way we are and can actually be able to tolerate us, it does not mean that we are the person that God want us to be.

7.       The Bible teaches us that we are to seek to be Christ-like. Weather anybody can live with that are not, will have no bearing on our eternal destination.

8.       To find the GOOD life, we have to have a solid relationship with giver of life. That is the reason Jesus gave for coming down to earth and walking among men.Joh 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have [it] more abundantly.

9.        When we receive the Holy Ghost, it is NOT just our soul that found freedom from damnation, but the Holy Ghost was intended to work in our mind, soul and body.  Now I just wonder where we would be right now if we would release the Spirit into every facet of our being. It could certainly be called a “life changing experience.

10.    Then we would need no validation from this present world, but would walk after the spirit as the Bible states.

11.     Just think! When my hands get the Holy Ghost, they will clap unto the Lord. When my mouth gets the Holy Ghost I will sing and shout unto the Lord. When my feet get the Holy Ghost I will dance before the Lord. When I come into HIS house I (all of me) will worship, like I have never worshipped.

12.    “LORD fill me with your Spirit, wash me in your love, let every fiber of my being shout Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah.

13.     When I become the man that God want me to be, then I can fill the other rolls that my life requires.

14.    I say to you today HAVE FAITH IN GOD! Amen!
